The Belladone dress by Deer & Doe! I finished this dress a few weeks ago and it did not take me as long as usual to complete. I think it took about three days after work and that was fairly quick. I got the pattern as a Christmas/birthday present from my friend a few months ago, along with the Reglisse dress which I am currently making now.
The pattern as well as the instructions were very easy to understand and sew together which is likely why I was able to finish sewing it quickly. However, even with easy instructions, I still made a mistake and accidentally had my skirt pleats going in the wrong direction. Unfortunately, I didn't notice it until after I sewed the skirt to the bodice and saw that the pleats didn't match up with the bodice darts.

The pleat mistake...
I took everything out and redid the pleats, so it is correct in the final version. Of course, it did take a day to bring myself to take it out...
I really like the fit of the dress! I used black suiting fabric and half-inch gold metallic bias trim from Joann's. I cut out a size 36 to fit my waist and hips and needed to take in about a quarter inch from both sides of the bodice to fit my chest. Since the bust section was smaller than the pattern size intended, I needed to extend the arm holes lower to prevent the fabric from going up into my armpits (which unfortunately I've experienced before...). I also installed an invisible zipper instead of having a zipper flap. For the next time, I will need to make the back section a bit tighter at the top.

Thanks for reading!
